Ransom James

Managing Partner

Ransom has 26 years of experience in private equity, operations, and banking. He has spent the past 20 years in private equity, investing in the home services and specialty business services sectors. At Grove Mountain, he is involved in all aspects of the business, including sector thesis development, sourcing, and portfolio company management.

Prior to founding Grove Mountain in 2020, he was a Co-Founder and Partner at Eagle Merchant Partners, a southeastern-US-focused private equity firm from 2013-2020. From 2004-2013, he was a Director in the US Buyouts group of Arcapita, an international merchant bank. Prior to that, he was in the leveraged finance and corporate banking groups at Merrill Lynch and Wachovia, respectively. He graduated from Washington & Lee University in 1996, and from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia in 2001.

Ransom and his wife, Michele, have three children and live in Atlanta. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends playing golf, hiking, skiing, hunting, traveling and eating. He is also engaged in the Atlanta community, serving on the boards of Atlanta Youth Academy and Northside Methodist Church, and having been involved with Children's Hospital, Meals on Wheels, and coaching youth basketball in the past.
